Study Bible Project Update
They're here! Larry and Bev Smith arrived in Nicaragua on August 1st for a 10 week stay to launch the Study Bible project and speak at the missions conferences later this fall. They were a big part of our desire to serve in Nicaragua, and we are so thankful that we get to work with and enjoy them here in Nicaragua over the next two months.
We are also praising the Lord that last night, after 2 1/2 weeks, customs released the Bibles to us! We are so thankful that all 48 boxes were sealed and in excellent condition. We are grateful to our lawyer, Alejandro, who spent countless hours, over the last 4 days especially, waiting in the office and helping us get each piece of documentation necessary for their release.
Please continue for this project as well as health and safety for Larry and Bev while they are here. We are looking forward to keeping you updated over the next months!
Africa Update...from Emma
I would have never been able to embark on this journey had it not been for all the prayers, support and encouragement that I received from everyone.
I had the opportunity to travel with one of our single missionaries, Traci Warner, and her parents. We visited a rural town 12 hours from the capital city of Tanzania where we got to see the work of the Burkholder family, who have started the Kweli (truth) Centre. The compound consists of a school, boarding house, a home for boys, and a church. We got to visit one of the two daughter churches that the church had planted and see the way missions was similar and different to our own mission work in Nicaragua.
We were given the chance to teach Spanish and Nicaraguan culture to 4th and 7th graders, who could sing “Jesus Loves Me” in Spanish by the end of our time there. We also had the opportunity to sing in English, Spanish, and Swahili during the church service and do crafts with the young kids during the sermon. In their Bible study, we got to share testimonies and pour into the lives of the young people in the community.
I am so happy that this opportunity was given and actually happened. I loved learning about the culture, the life, and the missions work that is going on in other countries. Thank you again to all who have supported me.
Would you please pray with us? We are praying for those who would increase monthly support and also for one time gifts toward our ministry fund account.
If you, or someone you know would like to give in either of those manners, please designate gifts to Bruce Edgar #013264 (003)
